Intensive Behavioural Intervention (IBI) is a type of therapy for autism delivered by applying the principles of Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA) in a specific intensive format. At ABA Toronto, we first conduct an initial assessment of each client in order to understand the specific issues and barriers facing the client and client’s family/caregivers. Once a client’s needs have been determined, he or she begins receiving IBI therapy. Our Intensive Behavioural Interventionists work with clients in one-on-one therapy sessions that focus on developing general learning skills, as well as addressing areas specific to each individual client’s needs and circumstances. The IBI therapy that each of our clients receive continues to grow and adapt as they acquire new skills, and progress is discussed with the family and/or caregivers on a regular basis.
